BOTTEGA VENETA

-

Tomas Maier has never been one to pander to trends, preferring instead to construct clothes that show the full breadth of craft at Bottega Veneta. “It is glamorous but in a very Bottega Veneta way. There is an ease to the sophistication, because it is natural,” said Maier of his latest collection, which evoked the sultriness of the ’40s. Shoulders in every form—peaked, puffed, straight and rounded— dominated the runway, complemented by sublime coats in rich blocks of autumnal colours or flowing lamé dresses the consistency of liquid metal. Bells and whistles were kept to a minimum, if only to highlight the pristine tailoring and superior textiles that one has come to expect from Maier and the Italian Marque.
