LOUIS VUITTON

-

For a House whose history began with travel—an idea so deeply rooted in the discovery of new frontiers and experiences—Louis Vuitton and its Creative Director, Nicolas Ghesquière, found an unlikely ally in the Musée du Louvre. The world’s most famous museum opened up its Cour Marly for Vuitton to stage a special, one-night-only extravaganza. The collaboration made a lot of sense: Museums are melting pots where map lines fade and cultures mix. Following that vein, Ghesquière conceived a collection for the season that also aimed to transcend boundaries, time and space:There were fur vests worn over flared pants, a sporty two-piece suit dipped in the most striking blue, and a finale sequence of slinky dresses constructed patchwork-style—the latter further evoking the assemblage nature of museums.
