CHANEL

-

Creativity is at the heart of Chanel, a point the brand’s President of Fashion, Bruno Pavlovsky, never fails to reiterate. And steering it forward tirelessly is, of course, Karl Lagerfeld.“Mr Lagerfeld is always right,” Pavlovsky told Harper’s BAZAAR recently, “there’s always a message and you see it in the decor of the show... it’s always meaningful. We believe it’s very important to have this capacity to be part of today and tomorrow.” For Chanel’s blockbuster fall/ winter show, Lagerfeld touched on mankind’s dream for a better future by installing a 37-metre-tall rocket in the Grand Palais. The analogy couldn’t have been more apt—where else can we look to for our survival except the deep depths of the universe? While space travel is only possible for a select few for now, Lagerfeld captured the imagination with tweed suits and jackets that caught the shine of the stars, heavenly dresses decorated with an astronaut print, UFO-like clutches and glittery boots that looked ready for lift-off.
