As lyrical as it sounds, Chanel’s newest High Jewellery collection, Flying Cloud, wasn’t named after a Chinese poem, but a yacht that was once owned by Hugh Grosvenor, the second Duke of Westminste­r who was Gabrielle Chanel’s lover for 10 years. The collection is filled with nautical motifs including anchors, buoys, knots, sailor buttons and, a Chanel favourite, Breton stripes—for a stylish playfulnes­s that aerates the designs with youth and vigour.
