It’s hard to have your cake and eat it too when it comes to skincare. You may have a great moisturiser that doesn’t address sallowness, for instance, or a brightening serum that doesn’t tackle other signs of ageing. Enter the new Clarins Skin Boosters ($65 each), concentrated botanical serums that can be mixed with existing skincare to deliver additional benets.

There are three: Repair to soothe and rejuvenate, Energy to brighten, and Detox to purify and revive the look of tired, clogged skin. Dispense three to ve drops of serum into your mask, cream or serum, blend, then apply as usual. The boosters are suitable for all skin types and can be used daily. You can even use more than one at a go, but avoid using them on their own – their rich textures mean they feel more comfortable on skin and are better absorbed when mixed with a cream, gel or serum.

PLACENTOR VEGETAL

This French brand is built around plant placenta from soya and beech bark. Rich in essential nutrients such as peptides, amino acids and mineral salts, it is said to help minimise the look of wrinkles and boost collagen production for rmer skin. Products range from cleansers to slimming gels, shampoos and sunscreens ($29.90 to $69.90 each). Our favourites: the alcohol-free Floral Toning Lotion ($29.90), which softens and hydrates, and the Regenerating and Moisturizing Cream ($29.90) for dehydrated skin.
