HW ENDORSES…

Tod’s T Factory debut collection.

Now that limited editions, capsules and drops have become, well, the norm, what can Tod’s – which is not synonymous with any of them – bring to this already very crowded market? How about less of the maximum hype and more of what the Italian brand is known for, with pleasant surprises along the way?

That’s why T Factory, although it’s inspired by Andy Warhol’s Factory, will

not be just a hangout for the arty and incubator of the arts; it will be more about great-minds-think-alike capsules that are available twice a year (November and May) and will not be limited to men’s/ women’s apparel and accessories.

“We will work not just with designers and stylists but also photographers, filmmakers, students and artists,” says CEO Diego Della Valle. “We will choose them according to their capacities, but also according to views and sensibilities in common with Tod’s DNA – yet [let them] give their take on it.”

Someone who’s like-minded is Italian designer Alessandro Dell’Acqua of No. 21 (which has built a rep for modern classics). He’s kicked off T Factory by reimagining Tod’s iconic Gommino loafers (by making them more funky-feminine) and its outerwear (a parka, a trenchcoat, a down jacket and a biker jacket) – all in Dell’Acqua’s signature nude and black and, of course, tan, “the colour of Tod’s iconic leather”.
