ANALYSIS
The Dell Alienware 14 was the only notebook to have a SuperMulti DVD drive and Mini DisplayPort connectivity, two useful features omitted on the competition, but let down by its bulky dimensions and the lack of an SSD. This made it the least portable notebook in our shootout, while the decision to go with a traditional HDD also meant that it suffered in performance. The MSI GE40 is an interesting proposition, combining good specifications, excellent storage configuration and a low price tag. Unfortunately, it is let down by below-average build quality and disappointing display panel. The Razer Blade is the sexiest and most portable by far and it offers decent performance. Sadly, its TN panel display is a mismatch, not only because it didn’t sport Full HD resolution, but also because it looked washed-out.
