For the general consumer, we conclude that the Surface 2 has successfully ousted the iPad as the ultimate tablet for both productivity and entertainment needs. As a complete package, working on the Surface 2 is a breeze thanks to Office 2013 RT and the ease of file transfers via standard USB 3.0 port and microSD card slot. Little improvements to things like the kickstand and Type covers make a difference too. More importantly, it outperformed the competition in our usability benchmarks. Its only drawbacks are its bulkier form factor and lackluster app ecosystem for the moment.
