You may be won­der­ing what the big deal about 4K is.

If any­thing, the megapixel race we’ve seen in still cam­eras has sim­ply proved that up to a cer­tain point, any sub­se­quent gain in res­o­lu­tion is mean­ing­less un­less you zoom in. But that’s ex­actly the point. Con­sider these num­bers: 2 mil­lion and 8.3 mil­lion ( pix­els). That’s the dif­fer­ence in res­o­lu­tion be­tween cur­rent Full HD (1080p) tele­vi­sions and 4K tele­vi­sions, and trans­lates to a lot more pix­els packed to­gether which means you’re less likely to see the in­di­vid­ual pix­els when you’re sit­ting close to the tele­vi­sion. The other added ad­van­tage is a wider color gamut and greater bit depth, so 4K pic­tures look more vi­brant and have greater con­trast.
