Intel
Robert Noyce and Gordon Moore incorporate Intel in Santa Clara, California, on 18th July, 1968, where its headquarters remains to this day. Originally called NM Electronics for Noyce and Moore, the company eventually purchased the rights to use the name Intel, which was short for Integrated Electronics. The fact that “intel” was associated with “intelligence” was seen as a bonus. Their rst processor, the 4004, was released in 1971 for calculators, but IBM’s choice of the 8088 processor for the IBM PC helped propel the chipmaker to its dominant position today.
