Call it a passing of the baton, if you would. Fourteen years ago when the late CS Hwang, founder of the Chyau Fwu Group, built his art deco skyscraper, Parkview Square — the location of our cover shoot — his granddaughter, Vicky Hwang, would join him on site. Now blessed with her own family, Hwang is shoring up the family legacy, by steering the landmark’s recent “restoration”. Just as her siblings and cousins joined their parents and grandparents at their business meetings, her own two daughters, aged five and two, are here today to observe mum at work; even if it means the elder of the two is skipping her afternoon Chinese lesson. Like a member of the photographic crew, the little one even finds herself a good vantage to whip out a phone camera and document the day. Wait… perhaps it’s actually photographer Wee Khim who has some competition coming up the rungs.
