Parmigiani Fleurier refreshes its signature Kalpa series with three contemporary pieces

-

SEVENTEEN YEARS SINCE Parmigiani Fleurier unveiled its Kalpa collection, and the tonneaushaped watches have grown into a signature for the relatively young brand. This year, the Fleurier-based manufacture introduces three new models: Kalpa Chronor, Kalpagraphe Chronomètre, and Kalpa Hebdomadaire, each housing tonneau-shaped movements that have been developed entirely in-house.

Beyond the fitted movements — all visible from the sapphire case back — the Kalpa pieces express its original aesthetic with a contemporary finish, and all sport Hermès alligator straps. Its delta-shaped hands and ergonomic teardrop lugs, both signature features, have been resized for a better fit.

The top-of-the-line offering is the 50-piece Kalpa Chronor, with the world's first automatic integrated chronograph movement in solid gold. Six years’ in the making, the COSCcertified calibre PF365 has been developed and manufactured entirely in-house, beating at a super-fast frequency of 36,000vph (5hz) for a reading accuracy of one tenth of a second. The movement features a shock-resistant variable-inertia balance and is equipped with a 65-hour power reserve. Winding the calibre PF365 is a 22k gold oscillating weight, further lavished with a barley grain guilloché motif. The Kalpa Chronor also shows an 18k gold bipartite dial in black, with hand-applied 18k rose gold faceted indices.

The Kalpagraphe Chronomètre is driven by an automatic PF362 calibre, a Cosc-certified integrated chronograph movement similar to the solid gold PF365 with a 5Hz frequency and a 65-hour power reserve. The new PF362 calibre, which also took six years to develop, sports a 22k gold oscillating weight embellished with the brand’s signature barley grain motif.

Powering the Kalpa Hebdomadaire is a manual-winding PF110 with an impressive eight-day power reserve, thanks to two seriesmounted barrels. The beloved movement offers hour and minute functions, small seconds at 6 o’clock, as well as date display and weekly power reserve indicator. All watches are offered in 18k rose gold and feature dials with an opaline centre, snailed counters and 18k rose gold plated indices with luminescent coating.
