A CLEAN SCALP

Thinning hair is a common problem as we age, but it doesn’t mean we have to resign ourselves to the fact; it just means we have to start taking better care of the scalp so that our strands become more resilient and less prone to falling out. To that end, there’s Follicle Hair Singapore’s Meso Scalp Remedy, adapted from clinics in South Korea and developed jointly with a South Korean hair doctor.

To prep the scalp for the infusion of nutrients, the therapist applied a detox lotion and a mask to break down and remove surface dead skin cells. Stress, I was told, can inhibit the absorption of any haircare used, so what followed was a relaxing neck-and-shoulder massage by hand, and a galvanic massage using heated metal spools to stimulate blood circulation and drain the lymphatic system. After a wash and blow-dry, the fun started.

An antiseptic solution was first applied, followed by a proprietary plant stem cell solution designed to promote hair growth and minimise hair loss. The Dermapen, a battery-operated pen with nine fine-gauge needles, was then used to create superficial wounds 0.25mm into the skin in the scalp, so the solution applied prior can penetrate deeper. More stem cell solution was then applied. This entire process lasted at most three minutes, with tolerable pain and minimal bleeding.

Wrapping up the treatment was a non-invasive laser therapy, said to encourage hair regrowth and improve overall hair condition.

I went for a follow-up 10 days later (the advice was to go for five to six sessions to see results, with the first follow-up seven to 10 days after the initial treatment). This time, the session lasted about an hour. – LL
