LUSTROUS LOCKS

It’s true: We think more about the style of our hair than its health. But maybe it’s time to shift our focus. After all, the best hairstyle is going to fall flat if our hair and scalp condition is not up to scratch. As an experiment, I went to trichologist Leonica Kei to see what can be done to improve the look of my crowning glory without getting a cut, perm or colour.

Since my locks are fairly problem-free, she recommended deep cleansing the scalp and infusing moisture into the hair. After examining my hair and scalp to determine their type, the technician proceeded with the treatment using a specially formulated range of proprietary products.

The Ginger Anti-oxidant Shampoo, formulated with potent ginger, menthol and green tea extracts that help stimulate the scalp and give an antioxidant boost, smelled lovely and felt really soothing. This was accompanied by a wonderful head-and-neck massage. Next, she administered Leonica K’s Ultimate One Step Repair Hair Mask, designed to repair and strengthen hair, and infuse it with moisture. Infrared lamps were used to help the product do its work.

The technician gave me a nice blowout before sending me off. The verdict? My scalp felt exceptionally comfortable and I got lots of compliments for my hair. Almost everyone thought I’d done something to it. Well, I have. But rather than a cut, perm or colour, I gave it some expert care. – JC
