SPARKLING NEW ADDITION
Giorgio Armani launches its very first line of high jewellery to complement its ready-to-wear collections
Giorgio Armani debuts its first fine jewellery collection
Italian fashion giant Giorgio Armani has unveiled its debut high jewellery collection under its namesake label as an accompaniment to the prêt-à-porter collection. The designer’s taste for decorative jewellery has been evident in his work from the beginning. In the 1970s, he created sophisticated, sometimes eccentric objets with hard stones and glass paste, often set in frames of silk trim or ultra-light metals. “High jewellery, made with precious stones according to a meticulous artisanal process, is a natural evolution of my love for precious accessories. I find the idea of jewellery as something destined to last over time, and the way in which it can represent a woman by revealing something about her truly fascinating,” the designer adds.
Like the clothes, the Giorgio Armani High Jewellery Collection combines simple modernity with a soft character and subtle exotic theme references. Perfect as all-occasion wear and an expression of unmistakable style, the high jewellery explores some of the maison’s distinctive symbols. The collection focuses on three main themes – Borgonuovo, Sì and Firmanento – all of which encompass characteristic elements of the Giorgio Armani universe.
Borgonuovo features refined and alluring variations on the theme of the Armani logo. While its authentic and linear identity are kept intact, expect accents such as pavé diamonds or semi-precious gems in delicate pastel shades.
Bearing the same name as Armani’s emblematic ladies’ fragrance is the Sì line, which is inspired by the brand’s female olfactory symbol. Think architecturally simple earrings, rings and necklaces that reimagine the shape of a petal. There are also pieces featuring black onyx flowers embellished with sparkling clear and black diamonds that reflect light as the wearer moves.
Finally, Firmamento takes inspiration from the stars in the night sky – a nod to a recurring theme often referenced in Giorgio Armani’s fashion collections. Elegant, head-turning designs with a touch of whimsy, the line consists of pieces with stylised stars and crescent moons transformed into white gold, and sometimes embellished with inserts and fringes.
The collection is available at Giorgio Armani boutiques in major cities, including Hong Kong and Tokyo Ginza.
