Prestige (Singapore)

FETE SEASON

-

As I am writing this, the Prestige team is in the final weeks of preparing for our annual ball. While we may not be physically hustling and bustling – that’s the domain of the event organiser – I daresay that the mental energy expended in ideation and decision- making is comparable. If only there were a massage for the brain at the end of days like these. But as party- thrower extraordinaire Fanty Soenardy told me this month, the key to enjoying an event that you organise, to free yourself of self- imposed stress, is to be meticulous about the planning ahead of time. You’ve given your all, the rest is alchemy and alcohol.

Behind- the- scenes insights aside, this Celebration- themed issue is chockful of ideas for the night about town. We present jewellery that channels Hollywood screen sirens for that stunning entrance, whimsical soiree looks and watches fit to mark your milestones. Want an intimate night with family and friends? We curate some exclusive supper clubs, one of which is tucked inside a shophouse that opens into fantastical realm of indoor pool- garden and rococo interiors. The Peranakan food there is excellent.

I wonder what Race Wong, this month’s cover personality and co- founder of real estate platform Ohmyhome, would think of the opulent design. Ohmyhome recently introduced a home renovation service, the result of the challenges that Race herself faced in overhauling her own home. She has reason to celebrate this year, having listed the company on Nasdaq and expanding its footprint in the US. For all her achievements and finding stability after multitudinous house moves, however, Race says she’s simply grateful for her current state of being. It’s a zen attitude that I’d like to adopt in the run- up to the festive season. Peace is a privilege and I am thankful of that every day.

?? ?? The anachronistic bowler hat won me over – how very Magritte. That and the distinct scent of an Asian fruit. Putting the fun into stepping out this season, the latest edition of Tutti Twilly d’hermès eau de parfum glows in various shades of lychee. The fragrance is floral and fruity, with notes of ginger blossom, lychee and musk. Definitely distinct and daring.
