Stelios Mousarris bends reality into a coffee table.

Often erroneously attributed to the film Inception, the Wave City coffee table by Cyprus-based designer Stelios Mousarris is actually inspired by tsunami waves, he says. Admittedly, it’s an easy mistake to make. The mind-bending table curves a cityscape 180 degrees and extends beyond its lower half, creating the surreal image of buildings suspended in mid-air.

The limited-edition piece went viral earlier this year, catching the attention and imaginations of netizens who immediately dubbed it the Inception Table, but Mousarris, who started his eponymous company in 2014, explains that his idea was to combine “something organic with something man-made”.

The maple wood and steel table was constructed with the help of 3D printing technology and the effect is seamless.
