It begins with a sketch. The humble pencil in the grips of a creative is the entrance to a world of endless possibility. “To me, drawing is like breathing and writing,” says Karl Lagerfeld, fashion designer, artist and photographer. “These are things that almost relax me.”

Lagerfeld has teamed up with fellow German native, Faber-Castell, on a limitededition collection of artist tools including watercolour pencils, fineliners, pastels and pen brushes, all housed in a black lacquered beech wood box. Only 2,500 of the elegant Karlbox were produced, with just 50 sets available in Singapore for S$4,588 at Tangs, Tang Plaza. www.colours-in-black.com ≠
