It’s the latest craze sweeping the world of underwater image making: 360-degree photos and video are the best way to reimmerse yourself in the action!

In January 2016, my partner and I were given a 360 camera to test on a trip to the Indian Ocean we were doing later that year. They wanted us to use the camera to photograph the beautiful atolls, but of course we took one look at the first amazing photosphere (360 photo) that we took and immediately wanted to get it underwater! We looked everywhere online, in dive stores, at shows, but no one was making a housing for these cameras. Time to take action…

I am a design technology graduate and teacher, so I put on my project head and got to work on the computer. My boyfriend is an underwater videographer with many years of experience so with his practical tips to guide our design we soon had a prototype to trial. We took our newly made underwater housing with us and tested it. The results were amazing!

That huge manta that swam behind you, the one everyone else saw but you missed while you were looking at a seahorse? You can view it on the 360 video! You will never miss
