And they’re get­ting bet­ter all the time: ovens that de­liver per­fect done­ness fac­tor­ing weight and food type, per­fect espresso with push­but­ton ease, and fridges that keep food fresh at a frac­tion of the power con­sump­tion. Even as man­u­fac­tur­ers cre­ate ap­pli­ances that are not only more ef­fi­cient and ef­fec­tive with a smaller im­pact on the en­vi­ron­ment, but are also in­tel­li­gent enough take out some of the guess­work that be­fud­dle novice cooks, ap­pli­ances are also in­creas­ingly get­ting net­worked to in­tro­duce a higher level of in­tel­li­gent home au­to­ma­tion. Think ap­pli­ances that au­tonomously co­or­di­nate op­er­a­tion times in or­der to bet­ter man­age power load and smoother work­flow in the home.
