Play time is a most intuitive mode of interaction with the world where important lessons can be learned while conditioning a child’s ability to create and imagine – skills that may be hard to quantify, but which prove very useful later in life.

Toys are the conduits to this play experience. As such, the importance of picking the right toys can hardly be overstated. The fun factor is a given, but the ‘right’ toy is also picked in the context of the skills and values desired, and also the toy itself has to be safe: is it potentially a physical hazard, for instance, is it likely to break into sharp pieces, or fragments that could pose a choking hazard, was it manufactured with non-toxic materials throughout? One can’t be too careful when shopping for children.
