Design Intervention

For Nikki Hunt, principal of Design Intervention, more is always better. It’s a belief she’s infused into her home’s overall aesthetic. Now that both her children are studying overseas, she grasped the perfect opportunity to renovate the family home in order to fully utilise each space in the expansive house. In addition to creating a new reading nook and installing a saltwater pool, she also reworked the reception room for business meetings and intimate soirees. Solid colours are lavishly juxtaposed with a vibrant array of patterns—an approach she labels as maximalist, but it’s one that works within the sizeable home. And although it may appear random, the varied mix of motifs and shades and bold accents effortlessly connect each room and the verdant surroundings.
