MESMERISING MACAEL

-

Located 500m above sea level in the Almería region within the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain, the rustic town of Macael has a laid-back charm. With marble in plentiful supply, most of the town’s walkways are paved in the stone material, giving the locale a unique style and appeal. Visitors can also see the world’s biggest mortar and pestle, carved entirely out of white and yellow marble. An icon of the region, the mortar measures 3.29m tall and 3m wide, while the pestle stands at 4.73m long.
