CONTAINER LIVING
South Korean architecture and design studio Urbantainer is injecting new life to urban spaces by using freight containers like Lego blocks to create interesting, energetic dance clubs such as Club Octagon and shopping malls such as Common Ground in Seoul. “There is a misconception that containers are not stable, or that they are where the homeless live. But with careful space programming, containers can become versatile spaces, and they are much more sustainable as they require fewer resources to build and can be removed and reassembled as needed,” says Urbantainer’s co-founder and creative director Younjin Jeong.
