LEAD THE WAY

Higher efficiency, longer lifespan and low power requirements—these are some of the reasons why LED lighting has been leading the way. The portable and rechargeable Bellhop lamp by Barber & Osgerby for Flos and the clean-lined Arumi by Lucidipevere for Foscarini are two examples of striking eco-design, the former decorating the Parabola restaurant at London’s Design Museum. The ardent mix of style and sustainability also defines the new Yuh lamp by Gamfratesi for Louis Poulsen—a “personal” piece that rotates, rises and falls as you please. With the petite table lamp Blooper, designed by Mette Schelde for the Danish brand Please Wait To Be Seated, the light comes from the hidden LED bulb reflected into the large hollow bowl; the soft light is unleashed by turning the disk. The most clever incarnation, however, is the Blush lamp by Formafantasma for Flos (opposite page)— the rainbow effect just makes us smile.
