He is one of Singapore’s most prolific playwrights, having written more than 100 plays, noted for their astute observations on Singapore’s social fabric, and staged in more than 20 cities. Select works of Cultural Medallion recipient Haresh Sharma, the resident playwright of The Necessary Stage since 1990, will be presented by five Singapore theatre practitioners, at Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay’s They include theatre director Nelson Chia with a Mandarin adaptation of the award-winning performance artist Loo Zihan, in collaboration with actress Janice Koh, takes on docu-theatre monologue on Singapore’s first individual to come out as Hiv-positive; while theatre practitioner Koh Wan Ching takes on a new work-in-progress adaptation of a special collage of 10 text by Sharma, as part of developmental platform Raw (pictured).
