2 The pale lilac flocked lace dress may look almost minimalist in design, but the complicated construction of the torso and arms required a canvas toile—a draft version of the dress—to get the fit just right for Williams. The bustier and off-shoulder sleeves were subsequently constructed based on the toile’s measurements and hand-sewn to the rest of the dress. In a masterful touch of styling, a simple velvet choker tied as an off-centre bow around her neck added a touch of 1990s grunge to this pretty frock.
