With the Flying Spur V8 S, Bentley defines what a luxury performance saloon should be like

-

When Bentley first launched the 4.0L V8-powered versions of its Flying Spur sedan, it was to add a dose of sportiness to the class-leading luxury sedan, and turn your everyday commute into an exclusive, distinguished affair. But while luxury alone can be satisfying, there is a discerning set of gearheads who desires performance behind the wheel to complement the sumptuousness within the cabin. This is where Bentley has upped the ante with the introduction of the Flying Spur V8 S, which the Crewe-based manufacturer describes as “the sporting side of luxury”. Developed specifically with the keen driver in mind, the V8 S is an enhanced version of the Flying Spur with the best of its performance virtues. In keeping with Bentley’s flair for refinement and subtlety without compromising majesty and purpose, the V8 S dons a sportier wardrobe featuring a black matrix grille, Beluga gloss rear diffuser and V8 S treadplates. Luxe details such as dark-tinted head and rear lights, black gloss mirror covers and Mulliner Driving Specification 21-inch six-spoke wheels add dramatic effect to the handsome sedan. To get hearts racing, a 4.0L V8 engine has been tuned to delight with more power and torque. The car now delivers 521bhp and a mighty 680Nm of torque, enabling the V8 S to power itself from nought to 100km/h in a mere 4.9sec, before accelerating to a top speed of 306km/h. This being a car that wants to be driven, the V8 S makes its extra oomph obvious by getting to speed quicker and with gumption by demonstrating its ability to munch tarmac with assuredness while being precise round the corners, a credit to its specially tuned suspension system. Good looks may beg to be admired, but the cabin is the place to be. Spaciously cosy, the interior cocoon insulates both driver and passenger against the agitations from our pockmarked roads. It is in this moving living room that one will be able to notice what differentiates a Bentley from any other marque. The beauty is in the details, and engineers and craftsmen have joined forces to create a unique experience with handsomely handcrafted highlights such as dark piano-black wood veneers, a knurled gear lever and lovely two-toned fine leather seats. A Bentley, though, is entirely about its owner and a whole range of customisable features and colour options can be further specified. The Bentley Flying Spur V8 S is now available to test drive at the Bentley Singapore Showroom.
