FETE FOR A TRENCH

In April this year, Burberry celebrated its iconic trench coat with an in-store experience entitled Tales of a Trench Coat at its Ion Orchard boutique. The exhibition showcased the Burberry gabardine and the story of its invention by Thomas Burberry, as well as trench coat imagery from the Burberry Archive. Also on display were replica Burberry Archive garments, and archival trench coats from past runway collections that detailed its evolution over the years. Separately, in the Heritage Trench Coat exhibit, skilled craftswomen from Castleford in Yorkshire, home of the heritage Burberry trench coat, demonstrated the actual construction of the iconic design. The artisans also offered guests the option to monogram their own trench coat with two letters in hand-applied goldwork cording.
