Meet Aashna Chopra, a multi‑hyphenate whose wardrobe is as varied as her life
ashna chopra might have grown up in Singapore, but she has her eyes set on the world. The daughter of hedge fund manager Vijay Chopra and his wife Shalini, Aashna is a budding thespian, having graduated from New York University with a major in performing arts and marketing, before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in entertainment. More than just a pretty face, Aashna is well connected too. In 2015, she co-founded the Act for Hope initiative, which hosted a gala called Camera, Catwalk and Canvas that brought together some of the biggest names in the Indian fashion and arts industry, in support of the Concern India Foundation. The charitable trust helps young women and girls who are victims of abuse. When it comes to her style, it is clearly a case of life imitating art. Aashna embodies the characters she so dearly loves when it comes to getting dressed. “Movies are such a big inspiration for me fashion-wise. I’ll watch a film and my style and persona will take after the character that I’m obsessed with! If I’d watched Breakfast at Tiffany’s, all I’d wear for the next few days are black dresses and ballet flats,” she says. While she is a big fan of brands such as Off-white, Christian Louboutin and Dolce & Gabbana, Aashna is open to trying new things too. “I don’t take myself too seriously when it comes to fashion. I like to have fun and experiment with my clothes—i’d even wear a top back to front on purpose if I feel it looks good!”
