Monaco royal Charlotte Casiraghi collaborates with Montblanc to design a capsule jewellery collection. Terence Lim finds out where the inspiration for the collection comes from

It takes a woman of character to inspire another. Nancy Cunard was a 20th-century poet, publisher and activist who fought for racial equality and Spanish Civil War victims. Because of her strong character and interesting personality, the Englishwoman was often in the company of intellectual greats Ernest Hemingway and Aldous Huxley. She was even the muse of photographers such as Man Ray and Cecil Beaton. This is why Cunard is a beacon of inspiration for Charlotte Casiraghi in the creation of the Montblanc Les Aimants jewellery collection. The daughter of Caroline, Princess of Hanover, and Stefano Casiraghi, an Italian industrialist, the 31-year-old global brand ambassador for Montblanc designed the capsule collection of bangles, rings and necklaces such that they can be mixed and matched according to the style of the wearer. Cunard was after all known to be a fashion savant and always accentuated her outfits with bold accessories and jewellery choices. “She was the epitome of the modern woman in her day, a successful author and activist, as well as a daring style pioneer,” said Casiraghi. “Les Aimants by Charlotte Casiraghi is a bold and chic

collection for a woman today who knows what she wants and expresses herself in new ways to have fun and indulge by personalising her look, pairing opposites to achieve her own brand of elegance.” The pieces from Les Aimants are crafted in different materials—think transparent, black and marbled resin, and sterling silver— and come in different widths and textures. But because the silhouettes of the designs are largely organic, the pieces look set to be timeless and versatile, and will never go out of style.
