The spacious but cosy-feeling restaurant is efficiently run by a handful of staff, who never miss a beat as they attend to every table with skill and warmth. Simple but reassuringly homemade flavours rule the roost here. In vegetable-based dishes, the spices are blended and cooked to precise consistency. The use of Szechuan pepper to season the tandoor prawns produces a delightful effect; the grassy, floral fragrance adds a uniquely appetising accent. Mango curry may sound unusual, but the exotic tropical fruit’s ripeness blends easily with roti, rice and especially with other meat courses. The expertly baked tawa meen fish is simply exquisite, its flesh still whole while the gentle yellow spices give it a sweet aroma.
