In the pantheon of finedining restaurants, only a few will remain truly etched in memory. We’re confident that Zén, the Singaporean outpost of Restaurant Frantzén in Stockholm, Sweden, will be one of those places. It’s transportive, transformative and serves the tasting course of your dreams. Ring the doorbell and enter a charming three-storey shophouse designed by Swedish architectural firm Joyn Studio, which is Instagram-worthy and wholly comfortable at the same time. The meal takes the form of a grand house tour, beginning with snacks and aperitifs on the first floor, and with an introduction to the produce Zén uses, with a beautifully styled spread as a visual aid. Ascend to the second floor and take your seat for the main event. All the servers and chefs rotate to cater to your needs and to finish a dish tableside—a spectacular flourish, especially when they’re topping off caviar or grating an entire truffle over your “French toast” (a Frantzén signature). The meal ends on a high with petits fours and digestifs on the top floor.
