American-born David Myers takes inspiratio­n from his favourite cuisines and destinatio­ns, and shares them at Adrift. It’s proudly known as a “California izakaya”, and offers both sharing and larger plates, as well as an omakase tasting menu. Guests will be pleased by the breadth of dishes offered, which includes sashimi, items from the robata grill and cheeseburg­ers. Like many conscious restaurant­s these days, it also offers the plant-based Impossible Meat. For appetisers, the uni slaw, spiced cucumber kimchi and tomato salad with burrata cheese is worth a space on your table. The barramundi in katsuobush­i butter arrives with crispy skin atop melt-in-yourmouth fish, while the tender, lightly smoked barbecued ox-tongue ssam, with petals of endives and pear kimchi, is among the highlights of the meal. The Dragon Egg is a crowd-pleaser; smash the chocolate egg to get to the frozen passionfru­it and coffee bean inside, and end your meal on a fun, sweet note.
