After moving into a new location in late 2018, Meta has definitely hit its stride with bolder dishes and more creative combinations. It offers a five- or seven-course seasonal tasting menu, which means there will always be something to discover when you visit, although you might mourn the loss of a dish that perhaps deserves a permanent place in Meta’s repertoire. Some of chef Sun Kim’s creations have kept their spot on the menu, including his “Signature Oyster”—an ingenious piece that embodies his approach to modern Asian-style fine dining. Expect to find Korean ingredients such as gochujang as well as local touches like sambal used in novel ways. Meta is experimental, but the resulting flavours are always a pleasant surprise. The new premises now includes a proper bar, featuring a succinct selection of bites including the crowd favourite pajeon (an elevated Korean scallion pancake) that goes well with its list of amazing tipples.
