MIN JIANG
Goodwood Park Hotel, 22 Scotts Road, S(228221) TEL: 6730 1704
Even the most critical of Chinese matriarchs love Min Jiang’s consistently delicious fare—and that’s why the restaurant is often packed with multigenerational families, especially during weekend lunches, where dim sum carts are rolled out alongside the tables and perennial favourites like har gow and siew mai are enjoyed with the restaurant’s signature camphor tea-smoked duck. Start your meal with the deluxe platter, featuring a lobster medallion coated with salted egg yolk (amongst others); it highlights the chef’s contemporary references perfectly. A meal here wouldn’t be complete without the ubiquitous soups, which are nourishing, comforting and delicious—especially the braised fish maw soup with crabmeat and the double-boiled chicken soup. End with the deliciously addictive Mao Shan Wang durian ice cream; it’s possibly even better than the real thing. While there is a decent selection of wines to go with your meal, the tea offerings are more extensive.
