Oso’s listing of tegamino as an appetiser is surprising, as it seems more like a choice for breakfast than dinner. Neverthele­ss, the pan-fried fresh organic eggs with black truffle purée and cheese must bring back memories for those who love Italian comfort food. The risotto tartufo that’s served next features risotto with mascarpone cheese and black truffle purée; it’s also comforting and reasonably well-seasoned.

For mains, the filetto is a beef tenderloin steak with a dollop of minced black truffle on a bed of poached green asparagus. The medium-rare steak is flavourful, tender and juicy, being seared to just the right shade of perfection. For dessert, the crostata, a freshly baked 72 per cent chocolate tart, hits a satisfying­ly bitterswee­t note, paired with luscious homemade milk ice cream. The service here is attentive and knowledgea­ble, and never intrusive.
