A well-established buffet restaurant with its own local following, this establishment still serves up some pretty authentic Penang nosh for the aficionado. Most diners head for iconic Penang dishes such as the char kuey teow. The version here is quite delicious, but try to get it when a new batch comes out from the kitchen, as it is best eaten piping hot. The Penang assam laksa looks impressive, but the soup can do with more density and punch. On the other hand, the too tor th’ng (pig’s offal soup) is a definite highlight. Even diners who don’t like offal find themselves enjoying this version, as it is hearty and flavourful, and delightfully lacking the gaminess that sometimes pervades a dish like this. For dessert, a wide selection of freshly prepared nyonya desserts awaits. Favourites from this section include seri muka and apom bokwa, which has a luscious banana sauce.
