Rhubarb Le Restaurant has made a name for itself by offering a French fine-dining experience at reasonable prices. With only seven tables facing the open kitchen where British chef-owner Paul Longworth holds court, the restaurant proffers an intimate and exclusive ambience. It’s worth noting that French ownermanag­er Jerome Desfonds’ refined service and warm hospitalit­y immediatel­y puts you at ease. With only two degustatio­n menus and a short à la carte list, Longworth displays the finesse of his cooking with the nobility of the produce, the lyrical interplay of textures and the paring down of everything unessentia­l. What you get on the plate is a harmony of flavours, stripped of any theatrics. The wine list is focused on Old World labels, especially from Desfonds’ home country, but expect to be surprised by his recommenda­tions, which pair beautifull­y with the food. It’s a fitting analogy of how the duo has successful­ly complement­ed each other in making this restaurant a success for the

past five years.
