Sashay to Sathorn
A business district may seem an unlikely place to live—but in buzzing Bangkok, it’s the perfect home for your investment
Dubbed as Bangkok’s 21st-century commercial-business district, Sathorn is the opposite of a gentrifying district. It is already dotted with gleaming skyscrapers, swanky hotels, as well as luxury residential properties, but it is removed enough for those who want to avoid the chaos of downtown Bangkok. Lumpini Park, the city’s biggest green oasis, acts as a fitting border to a district that is slowly shedding its purely corporate image. The area is witnessing massive growth in terms of development coupled with a culinary revolution; restaurants helmed by Michelin-starred chefs have taken up residence here, while Bangkok’s most daring restaurateurs have established independent upscale dining rooms within the neighbourhood’s tree-lined enclaves.
1. THE RITZ-CARLTON RESIDENCES
Set within the Mahanakhon Tower, The Ritz-Carlton Residences is Bangkok’s swankiest address offering some 200 units of single-level and duplex homes. These residences are built with high-ceilinged spaces, skyboxes and terraces, super-specced interiors and stunning views of either the Chao Phraya River or Lumpini Park.
2. ISSARA COLLECTION SATHORN
Just a few minutes from the main Sathorn thoroughfare, this development on Nang Linchi Road features luxurious living options in a secluded area. The seven-storey building emphasises serene, family-oriented spaces, with sliding doors that open up to the balcony area. The rooftop garden—a rare commodity in the city—comes with an infinity pool, patio, rock walls and a waterfall.
3. MAHANAKHON TOWER
Designed by architect Ole Scheeren, this 77-storey tower is now the tallest in the capital. The mixed-use skyscraper features a distinctive pixellated facade and will encompass luxury retail spaces, residences, a public square, a five-star hotel and an observatory. Mahanakhon Cube, the first phase of the project, proffers some of the ritziest dining establishments in town, including the Bangkok outposts of celebrity chefs Joël Robuchon and Masaharu Morimoto.
