HONG KONG TATLER BALL
The Hong Kong Tatler Ball is renowned for kicking off the annual party season with a bang—and the 2015 edition was no exception. On arrival at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong, guests traversed a dramatic hall of mirrors to a cocktail reception humming with the expectant chatter and laughter of friends old and new. The city’s loveliest luminaries, bedecked in their finest frocks and rocks, filled the room. After much champagne, caviar and chatter, the doors opened to reveal a lavishly decorated ballroom. The magazine’s highly anticipated annual awards included Most Promising Young Lady, which went to Candy Chuang. Claudia Shaw, the buyer and regional style adviser for Chanel, was named Most Stylish Woman. Most Stylish Man went to the dapper Peter Cheung, a veteran of the luxury industry who recently launched his own brand consultancy. Michel Lamunière, executive chairman of Edipresse Media Asia, presented magnate Pansy Ho with the Diamond Award, which recognises important work by an individual in shaping Hong Kong and the world. The award included HK$100,000 from Hong Kong Tatler to be donated to a charity of Pansy’s choice; she nominated the Hong Kong Girl Guides Association. As the evening drew to a close, award-winning cover band Liquid Blue fired up and instantly had people out of their seats with an energetic set of catchy pop hits.
