A Latte Love

A cup of coffee is only as good as the beans that went into it. Nespresso’s two new limited editions are dedicated to small expert coffee-growing communities in Rwanda and Mexico

Coffee aficionados know that there’s more to coffee than just black or white. Quality cups require a lot of attention; where the beans are grown, how they are farmed and roasted are vital in contributing to the flavour and aroma. Nespresso has worked with two small but advanced coffee-growing communities in Lake Kivu of Rwanda and Chiapas in Mexico to create two limited-edition flavours: Umutima wa Lake Kivu and Tanim de Chiapas. Both flavours’ names mean “heart” in their respective native languages, paying homage to the care and effort each community has put into growing the coffee beans. Rwanda produces some of the sweetest, most flavourful East African coffees, and in Lake Kivu, growers use modern post-harvest practices and handpick the beans to ensure quality coffee. In Chiapas, one of the best sources for quality coffee in Mexico, farmers stick to traditional ways of growing coffee under the shade of the rainforest. Nespresso coffee experts then split roast the beans to achieve balance and complexity. Half of the beans from Lake Kivu are roasted lighter and the other half is roasted darker for an aromatic cup of Umutima wa Lake Kivu that’s not only smooth but refreshing, with its bright, juicy fruit notes heightened with a subtle finish. For more intensity and to preserve the bready aromas and nutty notes in the Tanim de Chiapas, one part of the beans is given a longer, lighter roast, and the other a shorter, darker roast for a silky-smooth texture. Savour these flavours as classic espressos and lattes, or, to impress guests or spruce up your morning cup, concoct a Lemongrass Viennois or Popcorn Cappuccino (check out nespresso.com/umutima-tanim for four delicious recipes to get your own creative juices flowing). Available as a duo pack of 20 capsules, the two limited-edition flavours are available while stocks last at Nespresso boutiques (01-14 Ion Orchard, and B1 Takashimaya DS), and 24/7 at nespresso.com, via the Nespresso mobile app or tollfree number 800 852 3525.
