ICONSIAM is set to ramp up Bangkok’s luxury lifestyle scene with glamorous retail and entertainment mega-complexes and ritzy waterfront living
Bangkok’s status as a lifestyle and shopping haven is about to level up with luxurious waterfront development ICONSIAM opening in late 2017 along the banks of the Chao Phraya River. Aimed at turning a 10km frontage of the river into a major global destination, the development comprises two luxury retail complexes, two residential condominium buildings and seven attractions, collectively called the Seven Wonders at ICONSIAM. The project is jointly developed by Siam Piwat, the owner and operator of prestigious retail developments such as Siam Paragon and Siam Center; MQDC Magnolia Quality Development Corporation; and the multinational Charoen Pokphand Group. Unlike developments that take inspiration from other countries, ICONSIAM will be distinctively local and will present Thailand’s outstanding aspects such as exquisite craftsmanship, unique architectural elements, history, culture and tradition. It is intended to be the new symbol of Thailand, reflecting a forward-looking Thai way of thinking and creativity. The main retail and entertainment complex, the 500,000sqm ICONSIAM, will gather the best of Thai brands, culture, heritage and art under one roof, including the first indoor floating market, as well as renowned international restaurant brands, not to mention a three-michelinstarred restaurant. Shoppers can look forward to their favourite brands in fashion, jewellery and watches located within ICONLUXE. This 25,000sqm luxury wing will be a showcase of all-new concept stores of top international luxury brands. Iconic Japanese department store Takashimaya will also open its first Thailand store in ICONSIAM. Families will surely find many entertainment options with the 3,000-seat auditorium and 10,000sqm cineplex featuring the most technologically advanced audio and projection systems in Asia and the newest concepts in layout and seating.
