Fronting this campaign is none other than Italian actress and direct descendant of the tsar family, Nicoletta Romanoff. It was a match made in heaven, as she was already a fan of the maison, and is the ultimate representation of the marriage between Russian flamboyance and Italian glamour: her grandmother was Countess Sveva della Gherardesca (descendant of the prominent Tuscan della Gherardesca family), who married Nicholas Romanov, the great-greatgrandson of Nicholas I, emperor of Russia. Giorgio explains, “As I wanted to create a collection inspired by imperial Russia, it was natural for me to ring Nicoletta for her advice in the search for the inspirational topics. Then, I asked Nicoletta, who was already a lover of Damiani jewellery, to help us make the idea even more authentic and give authority to the Damiani project. Nicoletta is the perfect symbol of ItalianRussian friendship and she was able to give a true connotation of authenticity to the project in addition to passing on her personal aesthetic taste.” The Fiori d’arancio line is a personal project for her as it is directly inspired from her grandmother’s wedding tiara. The Countess Sveva, in Italian tradition, had adorned her hair with tiny wax orange blossoms, a symbol of fertility. Nicoletta has carefully preserved this rare and exquisite wreath. The tiara is made of white gold, but without the rhodium plating, giving it a vintage yellowish hue. This floral motif is replicated in a suite of necklaces, rings, bracelets and earrings, a bouquet par excellence for the modern woman of today. Giorgio muses, “Nicoletta is the perfect ‘latter-day princess’, a descendant with blue blood, but also an actress and mother—a modern woman with many roles.
