WEDDING CELEBRATIONS OF BOBBY AND SHAILA HIRANANDANI
It was a non-stop party for five days as Bobby and Shaila Hiranandani tied the knot with a lavish celebration in early December last year. Held at Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa, the wedding celebrations saw family and friends fly in from all over the world to partake in the festivities. Vibrant shades of pinks, yellows and reds set the tone for the mehndi party, where Shaila and the women in her family adorned their hands with the ceremonial henna. The sangeet was a regal affair that saw 2,000 guests dressed in their finest royal-inspired Indian attire. Despite it being a Wednesday night, the mood was buoyant, as free-flowing Taittinger and the finest tipples served as the perfect party lubricant, with the young (and the young at heart) dancing until the wee hours of the morning. Performances by the bride and groom’s closest t friends and family saw them break out their best moves, with th a surprise performance by Bobby and Shaila themselves. They ey then hit the dance floor and caroused to Bollywood’s top musicians Vishal-shekhar’s greatest party anthems. The party continued at the wedding ceremony as well, where the groom and his posse traversed the hotel property to the beats of the dhol to pick up Shaila before the temple ceremony. The bride looked resplendent in a traditional red lehnga by celebrated Indian designer Manish Malhotra. The designer, who was in attendance as well, was the official couturier for the bride, Bobby’s sister Dimple Aswani and mother Asha Hiranandani. The five-day festivities culminated in the reception on Saturday night; the marquis was completely transformed intoo a Moulin Rouge set, where accents of red, from the decor to the entertainers’ costumes, set the scene. Family members including the parents and siblings of the bride and groom thanked the guests in attendance with heartfelt speeches, following which they invited their esteemed guests to celebrateate the joyous occasion on the dance floor as famous Bollywood entertainers Salim-sulaiman performed their top hits.
