THE FABULOUS FIVE
SINGAPORE TATLER FASHION AWARDS 2017
The highly charged Singapore Tatler Fashion Awards had surprise after surprise lined up for our stylish guests. Award recipients (from left) Margie Van Elten Blommaert, Grace Yeh, Sanveer Gill, Dawn Koh and Stephanie Lee were chuffed to find out that they each made the cover of our April issue—our first-ever five-cover edition.
It was surprise after surprise at the inaugural Singapore Tatler Fashion Awards (TFA), and many declared it was the most fun they had had in a while. Upon arrival at Parkroyal on Pickering, guests were greeted by the breathtaking Lamborghini Huracán Rwd Spyder. On the second floor, a feast awaited: Vietnamese lobster spring rolls, Norwegian salmon baked in rock salt and a dessert bar equipped with a nitro station. The whisky bar dishing out 15-year-old Glenfiddich was kept busy too. The affair kicked off with a runway show by cult streetwear multi-label store Surrender (which is also the first-ever store on our shores to host a Louis Vuitton pop-up), where Tatler friends Margie Van Elten Blommaert—a former model—and Lynn Yeow-de Vito strutted down the runway. Guests were even able to buy the runway pieces immediately. We have to admit: Tatler soirees get the best crowd. As group editor Jane Ngiam was about to announce the recipient of the Most Classic Dresser award, someone (Grace Chng, was that you?) hollered “Grace Yeh!”, in support of her friend. After the five newly-minted recipients received their TFA Lalique trophies, they were invited back on stage for a behind-the-scenes video and the unveiling of the April issue— our first-ever five cover issue— with an awardee fronting each. On stage, jaws dropped as they were caught unaware while the rest of the ballroom cheered. Then came the biggest surprise of the evening: The Tatler Moguls runway show, that played to the tune of Good Boy by K-pop stars G-dragon and Taeyang. Adrian Ng, Bobby Hiranandani, Oscar Mico, Andre Huber and Jim Rogers walked down the runway in their rapper best—tracksuits paired with thick gold chains and mink. The crowd went hysterical, ending the night on a high.
