Simran Bedi proves that the dichotomous combination of feminine dresses and fierce footwear is a lethal one

or simran bedi, this year is all about embracing change. The investor recently started wearing make-up and admits it makes her feel happy. “Foundation, highlighter and lipstick, it makes a huge difference. I just bought a bunch of products from Charlotte Tilbury,” she shares. This jet-setting businesswoman, who travels four times a month, admits she doesn’t have time for window shopping. “I shop whenever I travel. When I’m in India, I check out local designers such as Monisha Jaising and Rabani & Rakha. In London, I go to Harrods—it’s a one-stop shop with the best edit of new arrivals.” Simran has a streamlined and elegant aesthetic, preferring dresses over power suits. “With age, I now feel more empowered and it’s reflected in my attire, which is less conservative and more figure-flattering,” she says. Power dressing for Simran means an oversized watch with Christian Louboutin or Giuseppe Zanotti heels. “My first watch, a Patek Phillipe, was given to me by my mom when I got my first job, and I still wear it most days,” she says. “She told me, ‘It’s not just a watch, it’s for you to understand that in the business world you have to value people’s time and your time.’” Sound advice that Simran will be passing to her three daughters, aged four, six and nine. But for now, they are the ones dishing out the advice. “My kids complete me, they’re the biggest achievement in my life. But with girls, you get unsolicited advice, not compliments, on what you’re wearing,” she quips.

If I want to indulge a little or want to feel better after a bad day, I go shopping for a dress. I don’t have the patience to mix and match
