Rustic brunch retreat AT Feast

If you’re looking for a family-friendly dining destination to enjoy healthy nosh while the little ones can run riot at an outdoor play area, book a table at Dempsey’s newest kid on the block, AT Feast. An integrated dining concept that is a joint venture between London’s b_together and Kids21 (by Club 21), AT Feast is termed a family club that offers all-day dining with a focus on being socially responsible, eco-friendly and sustainable.

The spacious indoor and outdoor venue is a warm and welcoming 70-seater space with plenty of natural light, evoking a Mediterranean-style relaxed atmosphere, with quintessentially British food. Its rustic interiors feature exposed brick walls layered with natural fabric wall art, and punctuated by plenty of verdant plants and rattan furniture to provide a calming place to enjoy a meal with family and friends.

The kitchen is managed by head chef Stephen Wood (from the Gordon Ramsay Group) who has curated an evolving menu of wholesome eats including your typical English breakfast of bacon, sausages, eggs, beans and toast; Marinated Tomato Salad (a must-have); Feast Burger topped with housemade chilli jam; and an irresistible Lemon Tart served with a side of fluffy mascarpone cheese.

To complement your meal, do try the restaurant’s selection of kombuchas and detoxifying juices. And for the kids, we highly recommend the Gummy Bear Punch and Choco Monkey Milkshake. For something a little stronger, AT Feast does offer a range of classic cocktails such as the Negroni, Frozen Margarita and B_Old Fashioned and Bloody Mary.

The beauty of this family destination is that the fun doesn’t stop at the meal. AT Feast also houses a Cookery Studio catered for different age groups, plus Kids21, a retail space next door for you to stock up on apparel and fashion accessories for kids.

AT Feast is at 16A Dempsey Road. Tel: 8121 5763

Food, music, fun GastroBeats

Outdoor festivals are back starting with GastroBeats (June 3–26) — an urban lifestyle playground that combines everything we love from food to music, as well as plenty of play for both adults and kids.

Organised by The O4 Company and HydeNSeek Entertainment, and supported by the Singapore Tourism Board, the month-long festival takes up 14,2000sqm of land area at the Bayfront Event Space, which will be sectioned into five main event spaces: Local Streets F&B, Culinary Masters, Arts Zone, Local Streets Retail and Jumptopia.

The “Gastro” component will feature local street food, in addition to a Culinary Masters section hosted by internationally-acclaimed chef Sarah Todd from Australia, where guests will be able to savour tasting menus for as little as $70. Other culinary guests include Derek Cheong (MasterChef Singapore Season 2 winner), Gen Lee (MasterChef Singapore Season 1 runner-up), and George Calombaris (judge at MasterChef Australia).

For those looking to be entertained, the festival offers a range of programming that celebrates Singapore’s creative talents. Besides a line-up of local musicians and talents, Graffiti Writers can square off against one another in a friendly battle of style and technical supremacy organised by Graffight at the Art Zone. The kids can also jump to their heart’s content at Jumptopia’s gigantic food-inflatable playground filled with eight colourful food-themed bouncy castles, and a long wild slide.

Tickets at $9 can be purchased from Klook. Visa cardholders will enjoy 10% off ticketing and spending across GastroBeats. For more information, visit www.gastrobeats.sg.

SEE Light up the night i Light Singapore 2022

Asia’s leading sustainable light festival, i Light Singapore, will return for its eighth edition from June 3 to 26 after a two-year hiatus. Organised by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and presented by DBS, the festival, held around the Marina Bay area, welcomes visitors to immerse themselves in the creative artworks of professional and student artists that spark fresh perspectives on the environment.

Themed Spark of Light, each edition of the festival will be anchored by a colour from the visible light spectrum to symbolise various ways of seeing and understanding the world. This year, the event is anchored by the colour violet — which has the shortest wavelength with the most powerful electromagnetic energy in the visible light spectrum.

Some must-see art installations include a very colourful Alone Together by Singaporean artist Handson and her American collaborator, Ian Grossberg, which features an interactive projection that captures our collective experience of living in isolation during the pandemic.

Another highlight is Fallen by South Korean artist group Nerdist x ARTINA, which features a projection mapping artwork on a recycled transparent dome and bubble wrap that imagines the story of a jellyfish from space after consuming trash jettisoned into orbit by humans.

Also check out Lightwave: Isle of Light — located on a specially constructed floating pontoon at the Lower Boardwalk of Marina Bay — which showcases five immersive zones powered by OPPO with enchanting holographic projections, illuminated motion-capture graphics and shadows, and light beams that remind one of a mystical forest.

Tickets to Lightwave: Isle of Light can be purchased from Klook. For the full calendar of events, visit ilightsingapore.gov.sg.

Art X Wellness festival National Gallery Singapore

Discover new approaches to holistic wellness through art at National Gallery Singapore’s inaugural Gallery Wellness Festival (June 3–12). The 10day festival is part of the islandwide Wellness Festival Singapore initiated by Singapore Tourism Board in support of Singapore’s vision to become a leading urban wellness haven.

Anchored by the theme Art Restores, the festival’s programmes equip audiences with wellness techniques that remind them to slow down, rest and refresh themselves to dispel the stressors of everyday life. Highlights include Slow Art, Somatic Movement Series (qi gong, silat and other movements accompanied by music from traditional instruments) and Bullet Journaling workshops categorised under three pillars — Movement, Mindfulness and Culture — to support the different dimensions of wellness.
