HOME SWEET OFFICE

Two dress watch favourites get the tweaks we never knew we needed.

-

You might be working from home for the time being, but you can still turn your abode into a productive space.

How do you know you have true design classic on your hands? When it lends itself to updates over time, and looks just as appealing decades on. From its stable of crowd-pleasing dress watches, Breguet has selected the Classique 7337 and Classique 7137 to undergo minor facelifts to sate our thirst for novelty.

Both references welcome versions in rose gold with a silvered dial as well as white gold with a dark Breguet blue dial. Their self-winding movements, case dimensions (39mm) and layouts remain the same. And, while the blue faces are the most obvious update, other new and subtle details are also worth paying attention to.

The Classique 7337 now features different engravings: Clous de Paris

(or hobnail) instead of

( basket weave) at the centre and a damier chequerboard rather than sunburst for the small seconds. Its moonphase also takes on an updated look with a more realistic moon.

The Classique 7137, another model known for its richly engraved dial, has also reshuffled its patterns. The power reserve display uses the basket weave while the date uses a damier chequerboard and the main dial shows off hobnailing. Older editions had a wave motif for the power reserve indicator and a sunburst flower for the date.

These Classique models started life as successors to the vintage pocket watches that inspired them. The little revisions prove their designs will continue to endure.
