OLIVER'S RESTAURANT AND LODGE
BEST FOR A meal en route to the Kruger. FOOD The cuisine is comforting and prepared with love in a classical and refined manner. The à la carte menu allows you to compose your own multi-course meal. Memorable dishes include flash-fried duck liver on beetroot carpaccio with cranberry reduction, tender squid with chorizo dressing and leeks, ostrich with figs and Black Forest ham. A dessert of rosemary-infused crème brûlée is delicious.Olivers offers a cheese board for diners whom prefer a savoury ending to a sweet and have a child friendly menu. DRINKS The wine list is limited but there's something for everyone and the prices are reasonable. SERVICE Extremely professional. The host and staff are wonderful, and will make an effort if you have little ones in tow. AMBIENCE The ambience is oldfashioned and cosy. Be sure to have a drink before or after your meal in the lounge. (JP)
